Rachel’s Fibro Story: I am able to do so much more

By Nicole Villeneuve

Published April 17, 2024

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2020. I had been working with my primary doctor to manage symptoms until the summer of 2023. But I just felt … managed.

Then, one month, I had gone through a whole bottle of my pain medication, when normally it would take me about 4 months. It was VERY alarming to me when I had to refill that prescription after only a month. I didn’t want to be addicted.

Now, I am able to do so much more. Within just a few months of meeting with my Swing Care doctor, I’m feeling like myself again. I am meeting with them on a regular basis: It isn’t every 3 months; it’s every month, or every 2 weeks to check in and make adjustments.

I have canes and a walker that are just sitting in my garage; even on my worst days, I don’t use them anymore. I have Energy now! So much Energy! We’ve changed my meds, and I’ve grown so much emotionally because of the things I’m addressing in their treatments other than medication. That in itself is huge in my healing.
